“Die Wiesenburg is a living, compete work of art; its uniqueness should be preserved. The spirit of its enchanting, historical buildings should permeate the new ones.”
Ephraim Gothe

“This place is well known far beyond the borders of Berlin and serves as a role model for other federal states. Numerous artists rehearse, work and network there in self-determined conditions. This is exactly what allows them to develop structures that are sensitive to the needs of the city and can be tailored to the needs of the immediate vicinity.”
+ Barbara Schmidt-Rohr
Artistic Director, Tanzinitiative Hamburg
“Die Wiesenburg is a unique creative space in the capital of Germany. The work, effort and desire of its creators are deeply inspiring and create an extremely favourable and peaceful working environment. This state of artistic work and research is indispensable and very necessary in a large and populous city such as Berlin. lt offers you tranquillity and time for creative process and exchange.”
+ Ognian Golev

“The high level of sensitivity for the surrounding neighbourhood has resulted not least in the establishment and organisation of the Die WIesenburg e.V. together with colleagues from art and culture. Through their own efforts and financial risks, unique spaces have been created here which not only provide the resident artists with a place for production and creative reflection but actively enable social contact and exchange with the neighbourhood and beyond.”

“Super Wiese, super Burg, super Wiesenburger!”
+ Florian Schmidt
District Councillor for Construction
“Germany and particularly Berlin are seen abroad as places where the independent art scene is highly valued, something that can only be dreamed of by artists in other countries… and exactly such places as Die Wiesenburg play an important role. They give a soul to urbanisation and above all, create the excitement that the city has successfully marketed…without such places we, the Goethe Institute, lose an argument in presenting Germany as a land of culture.”
+ Marc-André Schmachtel
Director, Goethe Institute, Lagos, Nigeria
“Wiesenburg is a significant space due namely to exactly that: its space. On behalf of the dance community in Berlin, it stands as an accessible and approachable place where work can be developed without the necessity or pressure of presenting and performing a work. It is a place for artistic and technical research and should remain as a space for culture and community.”
+ Gretchen Sigrid Blegen
Artist and Curator of Lucky Trimmer
“An impressive effort and dedication has allowed the actors in Die Wiesenburg e.V to turn a former homeless asylum into a home of innovative ideas and social initiatives … and is the best possible example of embodied social awareness and artistic responsibility.”
+ Joanna Leśnierowska
