Rotations asks for a basic trust in motion, consciousness and universal energies: everything is already there
+ About
Rotations is a Solo for Claudia Tomasi, who has been working with me in plenty of group pieces as performer as well as artistic assistant. The work focuses on her specific movement qualities deriving from long-term practices in Qi Gong, Aikido, Cranio Sacral Therapy, Axis Syllabus as well as our common pathway and search for freedom through flow in movement as a universal source for connecting between one another.
In a set of two frames which take the center and mirror one another, her movements rotate and accumulate towards a complex, highly physical outflow.
Parts of her (self) seem disembodied, as if moving by themselves, directed by a bigger force: an unknown overall picture may already exist asking for openness. This phenomena creates a puzzling energy – an inner force, which brings along clarity, awareness, peace and resilience. Accepting to give up control over one’s pathway, trusting that one is (universally) guided asks paradoxically for being accurate in each single moment. It allows for one’s own outside-observation, almost as if one would be playing in one’s own personal pocket theatre. A ritualistic dance unfolds, in which an empowering listening to oneself
meets giving up control.
“With Rotations, I continue my series of works which attempt to create distinct andpersonal portraits through a purely physical approach, moulding respective rhythms and energies into choreographed experiences.”
